Events and Traditions

One of LSMSA's most anticipated traditions, Eagle Antics brings students together during the first weekend after moving into the residence hall for a series of fun, spirited competitions. Hall teams compete for bragging rights and the title of "best hall," creating an exciting opportunity for students to get to know their neighbors, build lasting friendships and strengthen hall pride from the very beginning of the school year.

Eagle Antics is a favorite annual tradition that helps set the tone for the close-knit living and learning community that defines the LSMSA experience.

During the annual matriculation ceremony at the start of the year, matriculating students receive a certificate before signing LSMSA's enrollment book. This time-honored tradition symbolizes each student's official induction into the student body and marks the beginning of their journey as an LSMSA Eagle.

Blue & Gold Week is a celebration of student achievement, creativity and the many talents of the LSMSA community. Held each spring, this tradition features student presentations, performances and events that showcase the hard work and accomplishments of Eagles across campus.

During Blue & Gold Week, students have the opportunity to share Distinction and Capstone projects through lectures, presentations and other creative showcases. The week also includes community events and activities that bring students together as they celebrate the close of another successful academic year.

Special Projects Week is an annual LSMSA tradition that gives students the opportunity to step outside the traditional classroom setting and explore topics through hands-on learning, creativity and collaboration. During this week, faculty members lead students through unique projects, activities and experiences designed to encourage curiosity, personal growth and deeper exploration of their interests.

The Junior Ring Ceremony celebrates students as they reach the midpoint of their academic journey. During this special ceremony, members of the junior class receive their LSMSA rings, symbolizing their commitment to the school, the friendships they have built and the experiences that have shaped them as Eagles.

The tradition marks an important milestone for students as they reflect on their accomplishments and look ahead to their senior year, carrying with them a lasting reminder of their time at LSMSA and the community they have become a part of.

Prom and Winter Formal are two of LSMSA's most anticipated student traditions, providing opportunities for students to celebrate, socialize and create lasting memories with their classmates. These special events bring the LSMSA community together beyond the classroom, allowing students to enjoy an evening of music, dancing and fellowship with friends.

Senior year at LSMSA is filled with cherished traditions that celebrate the memories, friendships and milestones students have built throughout their time at the school. These special moments honor the graduating class while creating lasting memories as students prepare to begin the next chapter of their lives.

From the Senior Sunrise that marks the beginning of their final year to the Senior Sunset that celebrates its conclusion, seniors gather to reflect on their journey as Eagles. Throughout the year, students participate in traditions such as designing their senior class T-shirts, celebrating Senior Breakfast (a beloved nighttime tradition featuring senior superlatives presented by Student Life Assistants on each hall), and gathering for the Senior Banquet at the end of the year.

Together, these traditions highlight the unique bonds within each graduating class and the lifelong connections formed through the LSMSA experience.
